New Dentures, Now What?

We see many different denture cases in our office. We love seeing a patient’s smile transform. Even though these may not be the patient’s natural teeth we still recommend our Colorado Springs denture patients come in every 6 months to see our hygienists.

Now you may be curious as to why a denture patient should see our hygienists. Our hygienists preform denture and implant maintenance procedures for these patients. We recommend coming in at least once a year for patients with a full set of dentures, and at least every 6 months for patients with implants and/or any remaining natural dentition. During these appointments our hygienist will preform an oral cancer screening and professional cleaning of your removable denture. For patients who have implant supported dentures the process is a bit different. The denture is removed from the implants and our hygienist takes an x-ray to check on the current health of the implants. She will then clean around the head of the implants, do an oral cancer screening and do a professional cleaning of the dentures. They are then inspected and reattached once Dr. Patterson finishes with the exam. If any adjustments are needed Dr. Patterson will complete those at that time.

You are investing a lot with your dentures. We always want to make sure you are taken dental care of, that the dentures fit right, and to do everything we can to ensure that they will last you for many years.

If you are interested in knowing more about our denture process give our dental office a call to schedule an appointment.
